The reason I chose this picture for part 1b is because it really helped me visualize how much the Great Depression not only effected the adults, but also the kids of the time as well, they were starving and none of their parents had jobs or enough money to afford food or new clothes, and especially not toys or games

I chose this picture because it shows how difficult it was to get a job due to the huge lack of money and job avaliablity no one could afford to take care of anyone or anything else including their own families.

in this picture I see a line of all men waiting to get free coffee and donuts, I also noticed how it says for the unemployed, so this just shows how many people from one town were out of a job. But in other places the rate was even higher. The objects shown in this picture are a small store, and a sign that says "Free coffee and donuts for the unemployed" I think those are the two most important objects because it shows how generous some people were giving out free donuts to people who couldn't afford them. These objects are set up arranged as any store and line of people would be? The physical setting of this image is (obviously) in the 1920's in what appears to be a busy looking city based on how many people are in line and by the fact that it appears there are stores near by. The word I see would be the sign (mentioned earlier) that state Free donuts for the unemployed, I think this picture was taken to show the many people out of jobs, and how nice some people were (the store giving to those who didn't have much money). I wonder why it is only men in line?

The first thing I noticed in this picture would be the sign the man is holding that says " $100 will buy car must have cash lost all on stock market" I think I noticed that first because it really made me angry to see how unfair it was that the stock market took all of this man's money, repaid him with notihng, which forced him to sell his car. In this image is a man with his car, he is trying to sell it so he will have enough money to most likely keep his house. I wonder the actual reason he is selling this car?

I see a mother with two kids who appear to be dirty, and poor based on the clothes they're wearing and the house that they live in. In this image, I think the mother, the girl, and the boy are probably trying to figure out how they can get food on the table or clean clothes or get anything they wanted, it seems they don't have much money, so having necessary appliances like an "ice box" (what they would keep food cold in) or a stove would most likely be hard to get at a time like this. I wonder where this image was taken because in practically all of my other pictures it seemed to take place in a city of some sort, whereas this seems to be out in an open field which makes me wonder how much f the U.S. was effected by the depression?

In this picture I see 3 words which are soup, water, and white. I think this shows that it was water and soup served only to white people.I think this picture was taken because, it shows how ignorant some people were that they thought skin color determined how the person should be treated. I wonder why people felt this way, that anyone should be treated differently.

In this image the people shown are mainly if not all "Negro", the objects shown in this picture are a sign that says Hotel Clark the best service for colored only"
which indicates that only "negros" could stay at the hotel. I think the reason for this would be that either race thought fondly of the other so they each got separate hotels, and bathrooms, and water fountains, and many other things were not shared.I think this was in a "negro neighbor hood" where the population was almost completely black.

In this picture I see a sign that says "white ladies only" this shows that only white women were allowed in this building. I think this was taken in any time from 1900-1960s. I think this because during this time white people and black people were not thought of as equal. I wonder what the building was that African-Americans were not allowed into was?

I also chose this interview because after reading this it made me realize how much of a "do it yourself" type of person she was. The reason I think this is because in the interview it says she was suppose to wait for the men to come back and move the 550 pound pig they were going to cook with so they put it over a pot of boiling water to keep it from freezing, (it was winter) they were to be back by 12 but never showed. So Elizabeth decided to go get the pig all alone.
